The State and Local Government Policy Area is generally divided into the following two subtopics:
Local Government, concerning counties, cities, townships, hospital districts, rural water districts, library districts, numerous other political subdivisions, and school districts, to some extent; and
General state government, concerning state employees, and legislative and executive branch functions.
